Mental diseases in the Republic Period Turkish literature

Mental diseases that have a great importance in human life, also have taken place in literature that got its source from life. Authors used mental diseases sometimes in order to put forward a direct situation sometimes in order to create a symbolic profounditiy. This situation changed both the construction, description format and the style and the speech of the literature it also differentiated the topics and affected the way of the topics that they are studied. In this study our aim is to determine these topics in our own literature and study why and how they are mentioned. The mental diseases that are mentioned in Tanzimat, Servet-i Fünun and Milli Literature period have been the topics of our literature after Republic period and after 1960 literature as a result of the need of search the reflectionof the community?s dilemmo to the individual. The important mental diseases mentioned in our study of the literature written 1960?s are schizophrenia, obsession, perversion, eating disorders, cleptomania and depression. In our literature after 1960 there are a lot of differentiations in most ways. At the same time as these mental diseases used in literature, they were applied in different ways by taking their different element. These mental diseases that are mentioned in the literature, like in Sebnem ?sigüzel?s Sarmasık is used schizophrenia and Erhan Bener?s Böcek is used obsession, formed the basis of the construction of events; like in Hasan Ali Toptas?s Bin Hüzünlü Haz, Uykularun Doğusu, Gökçen Yılmaztürk?s Aralık Roman, Hüseyin Kıran?s Resul, Mine Söğüt?s Bes Sevim Apartmanı is used to being technique of spelling; like in Aydilge Sarp?s Bulimia Sokağı only form an popularist factor; like in Ahmet Altan?s Aldatmak is used to end and finish the event; like in Adalet Ağaoğlu?s Ölmeye Yatmak and Kaan Arslanoğlu?s ?ntihar reflects the situation of the community by giving the phscology of the person; like in Leyla Erbil?s Karanlığın Günü, Erhan Bener?s Tekillesme, Latife Tekin?s Unutma Bahçesi reflects the community and the condition of the community by the symbolic usage of mental diseases hospital; like in Araf and Mahrem sometimes used as an auxilary factor and added projoundity to the description.
