Evaluation of reports prepared in the field of music in the earlyyears of the republic

In this research, reports prepared by various names in the field of music in the early years of the Republic of Turkey were examined, the conditions under which these reports were prepared, as well as their impacts and various outcomes, were investigated. At the end of the research, it was scrutinized how the institutions of the period were affected by the reports in the field of music, whether the relevant music professionals responded as well as whether the steps taken were reflected in education and whether the reports played a role in these matters. The 1926 report written in Ottoman script was translated into the today's alphabet, and in subsequent reports, the approaches of the preparers and the importance of their positions in the institutions were examined. Along with other studies conducted on the reports, the published forms of the reports were also researched. Care was taken to present information in the fields of culture, history, and music that may be needed in future research on the early years of the Republic. It is understood that the first report prepared by Osman Zeki (Üngör) and Musa Süreyya changed the structure of the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory. In the subsequent period, it is seen that Joseph Marx's report was also prepared concerning the same institution. Osman Zeki (Üngör) Bey's reports in the 1930s are about the Riaseticumhur Music Committee and the Music Teacher School. It has been examined whether these Reports have influenced music institutions or whether a possible influence has been suggested. The research conducted will serve to better understand the process that occurred with the notable issues in the texts of the reports and the reactions given, and will be an example to reflect the aim of shedding light on issues such as which issues the institutional structure of music focuses on or which issues it ignores.
