Abstract (EN)

Chronic diseases; It is defined as a condition that progresses slowly, lasts 3 months or longer, is caused by more than one risk factor, affects the person's quality of life, requires constant medical support, and restricts daily life. People with chronic diseases have to use medication regularly and for a long time. Antimicrobial agents are sometimes used to get her with these drugs. It is thought that the potential antimicrobial activity of long-term used drugs and the interactions with other antimicrobial agents may affect the antimicrobial susceptibility of microorganisms. For this reason, it should be aimed to evaluate the development of resistance to antimicrobial agents by taking into account the development of resistance to antimicrobial agents in adjusting drug selection, doses and combined use in people using drugs for a long time. Our study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial effects of some drugs that are used frequently and long-term in chronic diseases and the interactions with other antimicrobial agents. These drugs; atorvastatin and rosuvastatin from the statin group of drugs used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, metoprolol and propronolol from the beta blocker drug group used in the treatment of hypertension, and lansoprazole and esomeprazole from the stomach protective drug group. In our study, standard microorganisms and resistant isolates in the culture collection obtained from Trakya University Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology were studied. The antimicrobial effect of the drugs was determined by the microdilution method. The effect of the combined use of drugs with antibiotics and each other was determined by the checkerboard method. In our study, when drugs were used together with antibiotics, these antibiotics reduced the MIC values affecting the isolates, and a synergistic effect was detected in 3 of the resistant E. coli isolates according to the checkerboard method results. As a result, it can be said in our study that drugs used in the treatment of chronic diseases may play a potential role not only in treatment but also in the treatment of resistant bacterial infections. It is also thought that researching these drugs together with other microorganisms and antimicrobial agents may provide new approaches to treatment.
