Abstract (EN)

In the UNCLOS there are different kinds of states, two of which are land-locked states and geographically disadvantaged states. These two group of states have common interests within the law of the sea especially in the issue of accessing to the resources of the sea. Therefore, they formed a group in order to influence the provisions of the law of the sea during the conference. But in the end it appears that they failed to obtain many of their claims. This thesis consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, definitions will be given, and then we will categorize the land-locked and geographically disadvantaged states, separately. Lastly, the principles on international law, which influence these states interests will be studied. In the second chapter, the right of access to and from the sea for the land-locked states will be dealt with.In the third chapter, the rights of land-locked and geographically disadvantaged states to the resources of the sea, will be analyzed.
