Abstract (EN)

Family planning (FP); It helps people to have children as many times as they can and when they want, and to avoid unwanted pregnancies. With this study, it was aimed to determine the knowledge level of married women who applied to family health centers in Denizli city center, to determine their attitudes and behaviors, to compare them with sociodemographic data and to determine the affecting factors. 199 participants who applied to five family health centers in Denizli between 01.11.2022 and 30.12.2022 were included in our study. The data used in the research; The questionnaire questions, which were created as a result of the literature review, were obtained by applying face-to-face interviews to the participants using the contraceptive knowledge assessment (CKA) and the family planning attitude scale (FPAS). Statistical analysis of the obtained data was done with SPSS 25.0 package program. It was found that 56.3% of the participants in our study used the modern FP method. The mean CKA score of the participants was found to be 9.61 ± 4.81. Contraceptive knowledge level is affected by factors such as occupation, co-occupation, education, co-education, income level, having knowledge about FP, using FP methods; It was found that age, duration of marriage, number of children and the FP method used did not make any difference.. The mean FPAS score of the participants was found to be 151.28 ± 16.78. It has been observed that the attitude towards family planning is affected by variables such as profession, education level, spouse's occupation and education, having knowledge about FP and first gestational age. A statistically significant relationship was found between contraceptive knowledge levels and FP attitude. When the results obtained from our study were evaluated, it was seen that although the attitude about FP was positive, the level of knowledge and the use of modern methods were moderate. In order to eliminate the lack of knowledge about FP and to transform positive attitudes into behavior, it is necessary to provide training and personalized counseling services effectively, to expand it to include both men and women, and to ensure its continuity.
