Abstract (EN)

The main objective of this thesis is to present a multi-perspective evaluation of eco-friendly concretes produced using earthquake demolition wastes that emerged after January 24, 2020, Sivrice-Elazig earthquake and industrial waste materials in terms of sustainable development and circular economy. For this purpose, four different mix designs were planned, and their mechanical and environmental properties were evaluated. For mechanical properties, mathematical models predicting fresh and hardened concrete properties for different mix designs were developed using the response surface method. Within the scope of mix design group D, non-destructive test methods were used to develop mathematical models that predict early-age and final-age compressive strength with high accuracy without damaging the structural element, while the low accuracy values caused by the single use of non-destructive test methods were eliminated by combining these test methods. Thus, it was aimed to reduce the number of core samples taken and to determine the compressive strength without damaging the structural element. Afterward, life cycle assessments were performed on the concrete series containing waste marble powder and silica fume. Using waste marble powder and silica fume significantly reduced energy consumption, global warming potential, waste generation, and abiotic depletion values. Thus, considering the millions of tons of earthquake demolition waste generated after the Elazig, and Kahramanmaras earthquakes, thousands of new buildings to be constructed, natural aggregate consumption, and the increase in industrial waste materials, it is thought that the utilization of industrial and earthquake demolition wastes has become mandatory in terms of sustainable development and circular economy.
