Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT SEISMIC CODES AND INFILL WALL EFFECT MSc THESIS Öner METE DEPARTMENT OF STRUCTURE INSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES UNIVERSITY OF DICLE 2019 In this study, evaluation of Turkish seismic codes and structure standards that effectuated were investigated. It is seen that the seismic codes hasn't changed in exact periods but has changed with experience of earthquakes which are resulted with deaths. As a result of this evaluation consciousness of earthquake resistant design has started and improved. In the numerical calculation part of this study, a three story reinforced concrete school building was studied. The 3D model were designed with SAP2000 computer software as bare frames which infill wall's effecting on structure only as dead load and as a part of the framework that effects on structure behavior. In the study infill walls were designed as equivalent compression struts and the behavior of the struts and building with struts, under the lateral forces such earthquake were screened with linear analyses method. Since the equivalent compression struts can only take compressive stresses, the stresses on the equivalent compression struts was checked during modal analysis. The results have showed that, the infill walls caused to reduction in the fundamental period.
