From state television to public television "A public television model for Turkey"

Aiming to develop a new public television model to support transform TRT from state television to public television, in this thesis, organizational structures of the principal public broadcasting services around the world were examined and a new contemporary re-organization model for TRT was created considering also the historical development and various past organizational structures of TRT. Being the world's most respected public broadcasting service, fundamental elements and functions of BBC, has been the main resource to this new model. However, these were altered according to the specific conditions of Turkey and TRT. In the foundation of this model, new approaches like increasing productivity in resources management, transferring authority and responsibility from central management to production units are accentuated to enhance the production quality of TRT and to build an autonomous and powerful public television and public broadcasting service. Applying this contemporary model, TRT may leave its signature to the coming millenium as a successful public broadcasting company.
