Abstract (EN)

Epidemiology Of Healthcare Associated Infections Developing In Dicle University Faculty Of Medicine Intensive Care Units Objective: Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) developing in Intensive Care Units remain important worldwide as a problem that increases morbidity, mortality and treatment costs.The aim of this study was to determine hospital infection rates, incidence densities, distribution of agents and antibiotic resistance patterns in the intensive care units of our hospital. Material-Methods: Dicle University Medical Faculty Infection Control Committee performed a retrospective review of hospital infections recorded by surveillance studies between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2017. Results: In our study, Nosocomial infection (NI) was detected in 740 out of 1679 patients who were followed up in their internal ICU for a period of three years. The incidence of nosocomial infections were 18.22%, 21.26%, 22.45%, respectively, and were found to have a tendency to increase. The highest infection rates were found in Neurology ICU, Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) in 2015 and 2017, Catheter-associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI)in 2016, Internal Diseases and Chest Diseases ICU in all three yearsCentral venous catheter-associated bloodstream infection (CABSI). The two most common resistant bacteria for three years; Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae. Almost all of the microorganisms examined were found to have decreased number and rate of antibiotics to which they were susceptible and increased number and rate of antibiotics to which they were resistant. Conclusion: Nosocomial infections are an important problem in ICUs. In order to control or eliminate these infections, each hospital should continue its studies of deportation scans for ICU infections and take control measures based on this data.
