Comparing of maximum pressure and ignitiondelay of diesel engine using diesel fuel and blends of biodiesel

ABSTRACTRenewable energy resources are very important and big potential for sustainable energyproduction.The renewed interest in energy for biomass is supported by the need for differentenergy sources and the need to protect the environment.What is known as biodiesel is avegetable oil chemically treated to replace traditional diesel fuel.The most common biodieselfuel is made by the transesterfication of vegetable oils,like soybean,sunflower with reactants( methanol or ethanol ).This investigation of thesis presents overall performance ,maximum pressure and ignitiondelay of diesel engine using diesel fuel and blends of biodiesel.The research engine was operated on different throttle positions and brake loads in order tomeasure the cycle by the cycle variations.After measuring the whole maximum cylinderpressure was recorded .This measurement system is comprised of a AVL piezoquartztransducer ,signal amplifier and osciloscope which sends the signal to a personal computer.In conclusion , comparing the fuels at equal engine speed ,it was observed that the curves ofmaximum pressure increased when the used diesel fuel instead of biodiesel fuel.Also the values obtained as a function of engine speed and brake loads with biodiesel fuelignition delay time is longer than diesel fuel.Keywords:Biodiesel,Maximum Pressure,Ignition Delayxiii
