The use of digital printing in plastic arts

The arts of the high technology age we live in today are faced with a process of fundamental change. In fact, the manner it?s produced and conceptualized have been changing for centuries. Every new technical expression technique in plastic arts, the ease of individualization, and attempts without boundaries have laid the foundation of a new notion of art.In recent years, computers have become an indispensible tool for many artists. Through its digital capabilities the computer offers diverse visions. Artists have been creating their work through the new spaces offered by this digital environment. This thesis aims to review and elaborate on the impact of this digital vision on today?s painting and provide examples of the imagery created by using the digital capabilities available in the comtemporary practice of art.The digital imagery created by using digital technologies spans a wide spectrum of areas. One of such areas is digital press. This study aims to investigate all the dimensions of the reproduction, tools, and methods of digital press and to understand the wonderful opportunities presented by digital technology. The study will also include a short summary, from a historical perspective, of how and where digital press has taken its place within plastic arts.
