Abstract (EN)
Digital technological competence is the ability to search for information, be critical of the information obtained, learn, solve problems, and communicate using various mobile digital tools and applications. Work performance is the output that the employee brings to production as a result of his/her ability and effort to achieve organizational goals. Social media is a new generation digital communication tool that enables sharing content such as texts, visuals, audio files and photos as well as personal information and experiences through social networks without any time and space limitations based on Web 2.0 technology. In the light of the information obtained from the literature review of digital technological competence, work performance and social media use for business purposes, it has been observed that the concepts are closely related. Based on this, the aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of social media use for business purposes in the effect of digital technological competence on work performance. In this context, the research was conducted on hotel employees in the tourism sector, where information and communication technologies are used intensively. The survey technique was used to obtain the data. The research data collection tools used were the "work-related social media usage scale" developed by Zoonen et al. (2014), the "digital competence dimension of the attitude scale towards digital technology" developed by Cabı (2016) and the "work performance scale" updated by Sigler and Pearson (2000). The data were subjected to relevant analyses (descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analyses) via the SPSS program and the findings were interpreted. Based on these findings, it was determined that digital technological competence had a significant effect on work performance and that work-related social media usage had a partial mediating role in this effect.
