Abstract (EN)

Operation of industrial systems induced heat has negative effects on system performance and service life. For this reason, the heat must be transferred as quickly as possible from the system to the environment. For this purpose, impingement jet applications are widely used in various industrial sectors such as paper drying, cooling of electronic components, glass tempering and cooling of gas turbine blades. In this study, impingement air jet heat transfer characteristics were investigated for rectangular finned heat sinks which optimized according to the Taguchi L18(2¹*37) experimental design method. The effect of different nozzle diameter, h/d distance and speed values on the heat sink obtained by optimization was analyzed. The experiments were performed at 4 different nozzle diameters (d=40, 50, 63, 75 mm), 3 different nozzle-heat sink distance to the nozzle diameter (h/d=1, 2, 3) and six different speed values (V = 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 m/sec). As a result; the obtained data were presented as Nu-Re graphs and the effects of the parameters on heat transfer were analyzed. In addition, numerical analysis was performed for the most effective condition of heat transfer and the results were compared.
