Abstract (EN)

The most widely used standard test methods for determining the wear of natural stones are Wide Wheel (Vertical) Abrasion (WWA) and Böhme abrasion (BA) tests. In this study, 48 (7x10x3cm) samples were used for Wide Wheel (Vertical) Abrasion (GDA) test and 24 (7x7x3cm) samples were used for Böhme abrasion (BA) test. The physical properties of these samples as well as the abrasion amounts of different abrasive materials, counterweight loads and polished and matte surfaces were examined. When both artificial corundum and corundum (white fused alumina) powder were used in GDA and BA experiments, close abrasion values were obtained on the samples. In the GDA test, the comparison between two different abrasive powders was showed that artificial corundum powder has advantages such as the number of consumptions used in a sample. In the GDA test, it was found that the groove width increased when the counterweight load increased. In addition, it has been determined that the polished and matte surfaces of the rocks show some differences against abrasion and it is determined that the matte surfaces will be more accurate in the experiments.
