Abstract (EN)

One of the major problem in the anaerobic treatment of the wastewaters produced from the production of DMT is the inhibition in the degradation of the complex compounds by acetic acid. The aim of this work is to treat ionized acetic acid in DMT wastewater with ion exchange to solve this inhibition problem. This study was done in 2 stages. At the first stage, a 1000mg/L acetic acid solution is treated with 0,5-0,75-1-2-3 and 4 g weak base anion exchanger and with 4g resin, %91,5 acetic acid removal efficiency is obtained. At the second stage, DMT wastewater with 12000 mg/L acetic acid was treated with 50-55-60-65 and 70g resin and with 70g resin %86,5 acetic acid removal efficiency is achieved. To determine the efficiency of the ion exchange on the removal of acetic acid, the data?s that are obtained are performed to the adsorption isotherms. In this study, it is clearly understand that ion exchange is a effective process method in the pretreatment of the DMT wastewaters.
