Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine gingival thickness using different measurement methods and to investigate the relationship between gingival thickness and buccal bone thickness. At the same time, the ratio of crown length to crown length, papilla height and keratinized gingival width were also evaluated in relation to gingival thickness. Material-method: The upper anterior incisors of 40 periodontally and systemically healthy patients were included in our study. Plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), and bleeding index on probing (SKI) and keratinized gingival width were recorded to evaluate the periodontal clinical status of the patients. Gingival thickness; Transgingival probing was measured by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and color biotype probe (RBS) reflection method. Buccal bone thickness was measured using CBCT. The ratio of papilla height and crown length to crown width was calculated from the photographs taken from the patients. The obtained data were evaluated statistically. Conclusion: Colored biotype probes were associated with both transgingival measurements and CBCT measurements. The highest agreement between the colored biotype probes and both methods was obtained in the thin biotype. Colored biotype probe was not considered sufficient to distinguish between thick and very thick. A highly significant correlation was found between CBCT measurements and transgingival probing measurements. The use of radiopaque material was found useful for gingival thickness measurement with CBCT. It has been shown that the ratio of buccal bone thickness, keratinized gingival width and crown height to crown width is highly significant with all three measurement methods. There was no significant relationship between papilla height and age and gingival thickness.
