Abstract (EN)
DM is a chronic hyperglycemic group of metabolism diseases that lead to disorders in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism as a result of insulin hormone deficiency or insulin effect defects. DM leads to specific complications that develop progressively in the long term, and these are the most important causes of disease-related morbidity and early mortality. It has been observed that a pregnant woman who developed a chronic complication such as nephropathy and retinopathy before pregnancy, and a pregnant woman with diabetes during her pregnancy displayed different clinical pictures. The umbilical cord and fetal membranes are tissues rich in aquaporin protein. In our study, umbilical cords and fetal membranes taken from 6 pregnants who had diabetes and who had nephropathy (VK-PGDM) as a vascular complication, diagnosed with diabetes during pregnancy (GDM) and 6 pregnant women without any disease (CONTROL) were used. Tissues were stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin (H-E) for light microscopic examination, and with Anti-aquaporin 9 antibody for immunohistochemical evaluation and visually compared. Then, quantitative real-time (real-time) PCR (qPCR) was performed from the part of the same tissues preserved at -80˚C and quantitative comparison of the aquaporin 9 mRNA angle was made. As a result of our study, while a statistically significant decrease in AQP-9 expressions in umbilical cords was detected in GDM and VK-PGDM group; There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of AQP-9 expression in fetal membranes
