Analyzing the Diyanet Newspaper for religious issues

This study examines Diyanet Newspaper in terms of faith-related issues. Between 1968 and 1990, the Diyanet Newspaper served as the Presidency's official religious periodical. Its content covered a wide range of topics, including morality, religion, unity, and religious-sociocultural life. The categorization of our study's subject has been influenced by the Presidency's legal obligation, as stipulated in the law, to address matters related to the faith, worship, and moral principles of the Islamic religion. Furthermore, since the newspaper prominently featured topics related to belief, faith, Islam, and conversion, these topics were classified as such. This study examines faith-related topics in the newspaper, categorizing faith and its principles, as well as those of other religions and beliefs, along with specific beliefs such as superstition and Christmas. It assesses how well the newspaper covers these topics. As a result, the primary premise of this study is that the Diyanet Newspaper primarily focuses on religious principles when discussing religious subjects. This study employs qualitative research methods and explores the Diyanet Newspaper's perspective and coverage of these matters by analyzing articles on faith and its principles, other religions and beliefs, and specific beliefs in issues published between 1968 and 1990. The study comprises an introduction and three sections. The introduction section provides information regarding the subject, goal, scope, methodology, and sources of the research. The first section covers the background and content of the Diyanet Newspaper. The second section covers topics related to faith and its tenets, such as Islam, religion, and conversion. The third section examines various religions and their tenets. The Diyanet Newspaper appears to have one hundred and eleven articles (28%) about faith, two hundred and forty-nine articles (62%) about faith's tenets, and forty-two articles (10%) about other religions and beliefs. These figures demonstrate that faith and religious beliefs make up the bulk of the newspaper's content related to faith-related themes.
