Abstract (EN)
In this study, pyrolysis, organic petrography, XRD semi-quantitative clay mineral analysis and SEM morphological internal structure analyzes of cutting samples taken from Dadas Formation during drilling of DMDA well in Diyarbakır province were performed. The results of the analysis were examined comparatively with the log data obtained during the drilling of the well and evaluated in terms of the shale gas potential of the well and its vicinity. When the XRD semi-quantitative clay mineral analysis results of the samples are examined, it is determined that all samples contain mostly illite and kaolinite minerals. It is concluded that illite minerals in Dadas Formation are more intense at certain intervals (between 3480-3510 meters). When the results of organic petrography analysis were examined, it was found that most of the samples are amorphous origin. It has been determined that amorphous amounts increase above 90% in the quantities where illite minerals are observed intensely. As a result of the pyrolysis analysis, it is seen that Dadas Formation in the region has a higher hydrocarbon potential between 3490-3520 meters compared to other units of the formation. On the other hand, it is concluded that the range (3490-3520 meters) remains very low in the petroleum production range based on the kerogen classifications made by pyrolysis analysis. The log data obtained from the well and the results of the sample analysis showed concordant results. Accordingly, it is observed that the lower levels of the Dadas Formation are more promising in terms of shale gas and hydrocarbon explorations to be carried out in the immediate vicinity of the DMDA well, 50 km northeast of Diyarbakır.
