"Diyarbakır Legends" investigation of the vocabulary contained in the work titled in terms of teaching Turkish

Legends that have been transmitted orally and in writing from the past to the present are one of the most concrete examples of the cultural heritage of societies. Legends are an important material in ensuring that the cultural characteristics of the society are transferred to the individual. These materials are born, developed and have an important place in the national memory of the society. It is thought that the use of these materials will be beneficial in the process of transferring the cultural characteristics of the society to the individual. This study aims to reveal the vocabulary of Muhsine Helimoğlu Yavuz's work titled "Diyarbakır Legends" and to determine the contribution of this vocabulary to Turkish language teaching. The vocabulary of Turkish was examined and then it was tried to be reconciled with the vocabulary in the book titled "Diyarbakır Legends" and examined. It was tried to explain how to benefit from Diyarbakır Legends in the education process and what kind of gains it will provide to students in which way under subheadings. In this study, which is a qualitative research, data was collected through document review. After the data was collected, the results were evaluated and generalizations were made through the information obtained. The result was revealed through induction. Muhsine Helimoğlu Yavuz's book Diyarbakır Efsaneleri, periodicals, internet sources were examined regarding the research topic. Observation, literature review and document review techniques were used. The vocabulary elements in the work were determined as proverbs, idioms, reduplications, fixed expressions, term words, foreign words, local words and proper names. It was tried to determine to what extent these vocabulary assets could contribute to the general purposes of the Turkish Curriculum and the achievements in the Turkish course.
