Investigation of agricultural and quality caracteristics of some registered sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) cultivars in Diyarbakır ecological conditions

This research was carried out in 2017 at the farmland as second crop in Diyarbakır-Kayapınar ecological conditions. Experiment was done based on Randomized Complete Block Design with three replicates. In the study, 10 registered sesame varieties (Arslanbey, Boydak, Hatipoglu, Sarısu, Tanas, Orhangazi-99, Kepsut 99, Muganli 57, Ozberk 82 and Cumhuriyet 99) were used. In study, different characteristics such as plant height (cm), first branch height (cm), number of branches (branch plant -1), number of capsule (capsule plant-1), number of seeds in each capsule, capsule lenght (cm), thousand seed weight (g), seed yield (kg ha-1), oil content (%) and oil yield (kg ha-1) were measured. As a result of the research; the highest plant height (174.65 cm) from Özberk-82 cultivar, maximum number of branches (7.90 branch plant-1) from Hatipoğlu, the highest number of capsules (162.3 capsule plant-1) from Tanas cultivar, while the maximum number of seeds in the capsule (81.66) from Cumhuriyet-99, the highest capsule length (3.55 cm) from Arslanbey, the highest thousand seed weight (4.30 gr) from Hatipoğlu and the highest oil content (38.10 %) were obtained from Orhangazi-99 cultivar. In the study, the highest branch height (33.88 cm), seed yield (2470.0 kg ha-1) and oil yield (896.6 kg ha-1) were obtained from Boydak sesame cultivar. According to the results of correlation analysis; It was determined that there were significant and positive relationships between first branch height with seed and oil yield, between number of seeds in capsule with capsule length, between seed yield with oil yield.
