Determination of whitefly species (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Aleyrodidae) in Eastern Black Sea Region

In this study, species belonging to the Aleyrodidae family within the Sternorrhyncha (Hemiptera) suborder, collected from different host plants in November 2022 and September 2023 in Artvin, Trabzon, Rize, Giresun, Ordu and Samsun provinces in the Eastern Black Sea Region, were determined according to the morphological characteristics of the pupal shell. As a result of diagnostic studies, a total of 21 species belonging to 13 genera from the Aleyrodinae subfamily were identified. These are Aleurochiton acerinus Haupt, 1934, A. aceris Modeer, 1778, A. pseudoplatani Visnya, 1936, Aleuroclava aucubae Kuwana, 1911, Aleyrodes lonicerae Walker, 1852, A. proletella Linnaeus, 1801, Aleurolobus olivinus Quaintance and Baker, 1914, A. wunni Ryberg, 1938, Aleurothrixus floccosus (Maskell) Quaintance and Baker, 1914, Asterobemisia carpini Koch, 1857, Bemisia afer Priesner&Hosny, 1970, Dialeurodes citri Ashmead, 1916, Massilieurodes setiger, Goux, 1939, Neopealius rubi Takahashi, 1954, Parabemisia myricae Kuwana, 1952, Siphoninus finitimus Silvestri, 1915, S. phillyreae Haliday, 1915, Trialeurodes lauri Signoret, 1963, T. ricini Misra 1924, T. vaporariorum Westwood, 1915 ve T. variabilis Quaintance 1900. Among the species detected, Aleurochiton pseudoplatani Visnya, 1936, Aleuroclava aucubae Kuwana, 1911, Aleurolobus wunni Ryberg, 1938 Asterobemisia carpini Koch, 1857 and Trialeurodes variabilis Quaintance 1900 are new records for Türkiye.
