Abstract (EN)
In this study, lithological characteristics of Devonian Ayıtepesi, Şafaktepe, and Gümüşali formations, which are included in Geyikdağı unit situated in the Eastern Taurides, have been investigated to explain the changes at sea level, climatic and environmental conditions, and analyses belonging to ostracod contents of the formations have been carried out. In accordance with this objective, species and type definitions of obtained ostracods, their variations in biodiversity, ecological assemblages they represent, and their paleobiogeographic distributions have been studied. Basic stratigraphic sections of Halevikdere in the region of Kayseri/Sarız and Kocadere in the region of Adana/Saimbeyli and detailed sections within these sections have been measured. In the analysis on 279 samples in total, 43 genera and 56 species related to 21 ostracod families have been identified. When environmental properties are examined, Eifelian and Thuringian Mega-Assemblages in the Early Devonian age Ayıtepesi formation, and Eifelian Mega-Assemblages in both of the Middle Devonian age Şafaktepe and the Late Devonian age Gümüşali formations have been distinguished. As a result of paleobiogeographic evaluation of the studied ostracods, it is revealed that the ostracods share similarities with Gondwana, Peri-Gondwana, and Laurussia and are associated with Rhenish-Bohemian Assemblages.
