Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACTThe Union and Progress Party has played an important role in Turkey?s democracy. TheParty has functioned primarily with a komitacı system where Dr. Nazım Bey is one of themain characters. Nazım Bey who is from Thessaloniki teamed with the Union and ProgressParty as he was a student at the medical school. He went to Paris in 1893 and worked forthe development of the Party for 14 years. During 1908 he was in Thessaloniki and Izmirwhere he was one of the main persons to help recreate the management and administrationof Meşrutiyet.He was a member of the administrative comitee of The Party until the end of World War Iand had a lot of influence on all of the Party?s decisions. As The Ottoman Empire lost thewar, he fled to Germany and after spending 4 years in various European countries hereturned to his homeland. In 1926 he was accused of an attemp on the life of Ataturk andwas executed. Because The Union and Progress Party did not have any archieves this workon Dr. Nazım Bey?s political life is based on very few and limited sources.Key words: - Union and Progress- Meşrutiyet4
