Problems and solution suggestions for using of the solid manure spreader with vertical drum in an agricultural enterprise in Aydin province

In this study, the problems that were encountered when determining the distribution uniformity of a solid manure spreader with vertical drum under farmer conditions, and the solutions have been presented. For this purpose, field works have been carried out at Posacilar Farm in Aydin. When determining the distribution uniformity, 26 boxes were placed side by side along the spreading range of the machine. Then the manure spreader with vertical drum was driven above these boxes at two different speed values (1.95 km/h and 2.85 km/h). While performing the tests, two solid manure samples with different moisture contents (32.2%, 76.8%) were used and the volume weights of these samples were determined as (0.53 kg/dm3 and 0.73 kg/dm3 respectively). After spreading the manure, the amount of manure in each and every box was weighed and the coefficient of variance was calculated. Going through the ends of the spreading range, the amount of manure collected in the boxes decreased, that's why folding method of calculation was performed. During the tests, there were problems such as the operator did not allow the changes on the machine settings and overloading of the machine than its capacity. According to the data after the test results, the best distribution was obtained at the first speed value (1.95 km/h) with the variation coefficient of 28.9%. The moisture content and the volume weight and the manure amount and the driving speed of the machine were all identified to have significant effect on the distribution uniformity. In order to minimize the problems, the maintenance and the settings of the machine must be fulfilled before the start of the spreading, the operators must be well instructed about the running of the machine by its manufacturer and the number of repeats must be increased to determine the average manure spreaded approximately.
