Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the relationship between thought-body shape fusion and perfectionism and eating attitudes. Another aim of the study was to determine the variables that predict eating attitudes. The study was conducted with 636 volunteer participants between the ages of 18-65. Eating Attitudes Test Short Form (EAT-26), Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, Thought-Body Shape Fusion Scale and a demographic information form created by the researcher were used in the study. The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS (version 25). Comparisons between groups were performed using Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H tests, relationships between variables were performed using Pearson Correlation Analysis and predictive analyzes were performed using Hierarchical Multiple Regression Analysis. As a result of the correlation analysis, positive significant relationships were found between eating attitudes and thought-body shape fusion and perfectionism. In addition, it was found that the participants with disordered eating attitudes had significantly higher levels of thought-body shape fusion and perfectionism than those with normal eating attitudes. As a result of the regression analysis, it was found that gender, body weight evaluation, perfectionism and thought-body shape fusion variables predicted eating attitudes. It was observed that all these variables explained 30% of the variance in eating attitudes. The findings obtained in the study were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature and suggestions were given.
