Abstract (EN)
Wall paintings are an important element that complements and adds value to historical buildings. It is essential to protect these cultural assets in order to pass them on to future generations. Preservation of wall paintings that may be exposed to some chemical and physical deterioration due to natural ways or various problems encountered during construction; It is provided with effective or preventive protection methods according to the environment and protection status. Deterioration can occur in the preparatory layers (mortar, plaster) that make up the wall paintings, or on the surface. While these deteriorations due to the structure of the material occur, environmental changes, soluble salts, air pollution, freeze-thaw cycles, wetting-drying cycles contribute to the acceleration of the process. Surface protectors and reinforcements applied to wall paintings are effective protection methods. With the materials used, it is aimed to protect the wall paintings in the long term. In this research, the most commonly used surface reinforcement and surface protective materials in the field of conservation were examined in order to protect the wall paintings from deterioration over time and to extend the life of the work, and evaluations were made by investigating their effects on the floor on which they were applied.
