Abstract (EN)

This study attempts to understand and explain the underlying emotions that drive individuals to change their attitudes and behaviors toward wearing and removing their headscarves. The assumption that this change does not occur overnight, in other words, that individuals change their attitudes and behaviors toward the headscarf over a series of processes, allows for this study to be examined. This study, conducted using a qualitative research method, utilized a phenomenological design. The study group consisted of 12 participants aged 19-59 who wear headscarves and 13 who decided to abandon them. The research findings revealed that emotions play a significant role in participants' attitudes and behaviors toward the headscarf. Socially accepted emotional patterns shape individual emotional patterns, influencing whether to wear or remove the headscarf. Perceptions about the headscarf are informed not only by religious principles but also by cultural sentiments, thus shaping headscarf practices.
