The relationship between emotional labor and motivation: A research on nurses

This study was carried out to determine the relationship between emotional labor and motivation in nurses. The study sample consists of 239 nurses working in Giresun University Training and Research Hospital. Data were collected by applying a face-to-face survey method using the "Descriptive Information Form", "Nurses' Emotional Labor Behavior Scale" and "Nurse Job Motivation Scale". SPSS 22.0 package program was used for statistical analysis of the data. The findings were evaluated at p<0.05 significance level. With the findings obtained as a result of the research, a positive, moderate and statistically significant relationship was obtained between the emotional labor scale score and motivation in nurses (r=0,58, p<0,01). As the emotional labor scores of the nurses increase, their motivation scores also increase. In addition, it was concluded that emotional labor and motivation level of nurses were affected by "title, choosing the profession willingly, being satisfied with the profession and the unit worked".
