Abstract (EN)

The relationship between exposure to emotional violence, rejection sensitivity, and interpersonal emotion regulation was investigated. The sample of the study was determined as 385 university students over the age of 18. The forms used in this study are Sociodemographic Information Form, Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnare (IERQ), Rejection Sensitivity Questionnare (RSQ), and Emotional Violence Scale (EVS). In the study, information was collected from the participants online and voluntarily. SPSS 25.0 program was used for the analysis of the research. Pearson Correlation Analysis was used for the relationships between IERQ, RSQ, and EVS scores. ANOVA, Mann Whitney U test, and Independent Groups t-Test were used for differences between groups. The Levene test was used when variances were homogeneous, and t-test statistics and the Welch test were used when they were not homogeneous. It was determined that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the Rejection Sensitivity Scale and Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Scale scores (r=.047; p<.01). A statistically significant positive correlation was found between the Rejection Sensitivity Scale and Exposure to Emotional Violence Scale scores (r=.136; p<.01). There was no statistically significant relationship between the scores of the Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Scale and the Exposure to Emotional Violence Scale (r=.013; p<.01). Emotional violence exposure predicted rejection sensitivity it was observed (β = .236, t =3.495, p<.01). Research findings are discussed around the relevant literature. In addition, to our knowledge, this study is the first to examine rejection sensitivity in the context of interpersonal emotion regulation. Based on these, it is hoped that the study will be an academic resource for studies that prevent exposure to emotional violence, support the development of emotion regulation skills, and reduce sensitivity to rejection. Finally, it is suggested that the relevant studies in the literature should be increased and brought to the literature.
