Determination of botanical composition and effect of certain rehabilitation methods on forage yield of Düzce Odayeri upland pasture

The upland pastures; are used for the aim of animal grazing in summer periods. Upland pastures are one of the most important natural resources of our country, are located almost everywhere in our country and they. These areas can meet livestock forage in a cheapest way. As a result of overgrazing, pressure on mountain rangeland areas has increased, and today many pastureland areas have been covered with shrubs and weeds and the contribution to animal husbandry as a forage feed has been reduced. However, the amount of forage grazed from these areas can be increased by appropriate rehabilitation methods to be selected according to situation and structure of the grassland in such high mountain pasture areas. While there are many studies on the improvement of lower pasturelands in our country, there are not enough researches on upland pastures. It is important to increase the rehabilitation studies on upland pastures and extend their positive results to other areas. In this study, the effects of different rehabilitation methods on the forage yield of rangelands were investigated in an upland pasture area with low values in terms of feed efficiency. The study was carried out in 2016 in Duzce, Odayeri pastures with an altitude of 1200. The research consisted of 18 parcels of 30 m2 in size; randomly selected 3 plots by applying 6 treatments with 3 replicates. The study revealed fertilizer application increased forage yield (390,0 kg/da), herbicide&fertilizer (325,4 kg/da) and herbicide application (222,8 kg/da) were significantly higher than that of control parcel (196,3 kg/da). Results suggested that rehabilitation methods such as fertilizer, herbicide+fertilizer and herbicide can be applied to Odayeri pastureland and other pasturelands with similar ecological conditions in order to increase forage yield significantly.
