Abstract (EN)

Earthquakes are caused by sudden tectonic movements in the Earth's crust, very dangerous and frequent natural disasters. The collapse of facilities during earthquakes is the cause of great economic and life losses, when the seismic demand for structural elements exceeds their bearing capacity. There are many ways to exterminate the effects of the earthquake. One of the practical and efficient method is utilizing damper mechanisms to absorb the seismic load. In this study, a high-rise building is analysed dynamically using different types of dampers to reduce the additional stress on the joint, frame, and slab of the model. The 25 story high-rise building model under dead load, live load, and seismic load according to Turkish Standard (TS 500) and Turkish Building Seismic Cod Standard 2018 (TBSC 2018) is analyzed in SAP2000. Analysis results of the case study are presented to evaluate the performance of the two different utilizing dampers and without employing dampers in high rise building model. The displacements, moments and shear forces of the high rise building with and without dampers under earthquake load are compared.
