Examining the relationship between parental acceptance-rejection, parenting attitudes and anger expression style

The aim of the present study is to examine whether there is a relationship between acceptance and rejection perceived by parents from their own parents, parenting attitudes and anger expression styles. The study also examined whether demographic variables such as gender, age group, socioeconomic level have a significant difference in the main variables. 319 parents between the ages of 21 and 50 participated in the study. Demographic information form, Perceived Parental Acceptance and Rejection Scale (short form), Parental Attitude Scale and Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale were used in the study. Independent Sample T test, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskall Wallis and Spearman Correlation Test were used in data analysis. According to the results of the study, it was found that the total score and subdimensions of the PARQ, the sub-dimensions of the PAQ, the sub-dimensions of the PAQ and the sub-dimension scores of the Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale had a significant difference according to some demographic characteristics. However, there was a positive and significant relationship between the warmth and compassion scores of the PARQ sub-dimensions and the democratic attitude of the PAQ subdimensions, there was a negative and significant relationship between some of the other sub-dimensions of the PARQ and the democratic attitude of the PAQ subdimensions. A positive and significant correlation was found between anger control, one of the subscales of the Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale, and democratic attitude, one of the subscales of the PAQ, and parental warmth and affection, one of the subscales of the PARQ. A negative and significant relationship was found between the angeroutward and anger-inward sub-dimensions of the Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale sub-dimensions with some PAQ sub-dimensions and some PARQ subdimensions.
