Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine early maladaptive schemas and parental stress level as predictors of parenting behaviors in parents. The population of the research consists of 335 people in the 26-67 age range. 197 women and 138 men, who have at least one child between the ages of 6-18.The questionnaire form consists of questions about demographic characteristics, Alabama Childrearing Questionnaire, Early Maladaptive Schemas Form and Parenting Stress Scale.Research data were analyzed with SPSS 21.0 program.Descriptive survey model was used in the research. In the analysis of the data, independent samples t-test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Analysis and regression analysis was used. It was found that the participants' scores of the early incompatible schema sub-dimension and the weak parental follow-up sub-dimension from the parental behavior sub-dimensions differed by gender. It was determined that while parental behavior scores differed according to age, there was no difference in early maladaptive schema scores. It was found that the parental stress scores differed according to the income status and education level of the participants. When the significance between the variables was examined, a positive and significant relationship was found between early maladaptive schema dimensions and parental stress. In the last stage of the study, it was found that early maladaptive schema dimensions and parental stress affected and significantly predicted parental behaviors. As a result of the research, it was determined that early maladaptive schemas and parental stress perception had positive and negative effects on child rearing sub-dimensions.
