Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the attachment styles of the parents with the variables of age, gender, marital status, education level and number of children, personality traits and childhood traumas. The Five Factor Personality Scale, Childhood Traumas Scale, Three-Dimensional Attachment Styles Scale were applied to 326 (257 female and 69 male) parents who had at least one child with the screening model together with the sociodemographic information form. SPPS-25.0 programme was used for the analysis of this study. Since the number of data was more than 30, the results of Kolmogorov-Simirnov (Lilliefors) test were analyzed and t-test for unrelated samples and one-factor analysis of variance (Oneway ANOVA), multiple regression analysis and correlation relationship tests were used in the study. When the results were analyzed, it was found that mild-manneredness and self-control personality traits had a significant and meaningful effect on parents' secure attachment style. When the personality traits of the parents and childhood traumas were analyzed together, it was concluded that there was a moderate and significant relationship with the anxious-ambivalent attachment style of the parents. It was found that the attachment styles of parents of different ages were similar, the attachment styles of male and female parents were similar, and a significant difference between the attachment styles of the parents in terms of the marital status variable of the parents was found only among the parents with avoidant attachment style. A positive relationship was found between parents' neuroticism personality trait and childhood traumas. A low level but positive and significant relationship was found between parents' secure attachment style and personality traits of extraversion, agreeableness, self-control and openness to experience. It was concluded that there was a low level but positive and significant relationship between parents' anxious carefree attachment style and neuroticism personality traits.
