Abstract (EN)

In the aim of this study, the treatability of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), COD,TOC, PAHs by-products in real petrochemical industry (PCI); COD, TOC, color, total phenol, total aromatic amines (TAAs), total volatile fatty acids (TFAs), phenolic metabolites in real olivemill (OMI); CODdis, TOC, color, TAAs in real textile industry (TI) wastewaters (ww),respectively, which are toxic and refractory compounds were investigated with only sonicationand with the addition of some chemical additives during sonication. In the research stages of this thesis above mentioned parameters were measured for PCI, OMI,TI wws at mentioned above conditions. The pseudo order reaction kinetics were determined forPCI, OMI, TI wws at above mentioned conditions. The toxicity responses of PCI, OMI, TI wws tobacteria (Photobacterium phosphoreum) in Microtox test and to water flea (Daphnia magna)in Daphnia magna acute toxicity test were investigated at above mentioned conditions. Theevaluations of cost analysis and specific energy estimations were investigated for PCI, OMI, TIwws at above mentioned conditions. The high removal efficiencies of above mentioned parameters in PCI, in OMI and in TI ww,respectively, were obtained at above mentioned conditions. The pseudo first order reaction kineticwas observed in PCI, OMI, TI wws at above mentioned conditions. Toxic and refractorycompounds in PCI, OMI, TI wws transformed to less toxic and refractory intermediate productsafter sonication. The results of this study showed that sonication process can be used effectively totreat the toxic and refractory compounds in PCI, OMI, TI wws.
