ABSTRACT A Sociogical Aproach To The Phenomenon Of Educated Unemployed: Case Study Of Elazığ Beyzade Nadir ÇETİN Fırat University Institute of Social Sciences Main Science Branch of Sociology One of the crucial problems emerged within the current economic system is the unemployment. Unemployment leads matters that day by day become more complicated, more global and have a continious trend. Unemployment is a fact that have many negative impacts on the economic, cultural and social structures, and on the pschologly of the individual. Due to the changes in the world economy (Post-fordism, globalism, information society etc.) nowadays unemployment is a problem that affect masses. One the groups affected by the unemployment is the group called "the educated enemployed". Those who cannot be hired in the economic structure despite their high literacy level are named as "the educated unemployed". There exist millions of "the educated unemployed" that have the same characteristics in our country, too. Therefore Turkey is among the countries that seriously face "the educated unemployment" problem. In this study, after a theoritical analysis for the term "unemployment", the phenomenon of "the educated unemployment" has been clarified, and connected to the concepts of "education" and "youth". In the application section of the study, the demographic, socio-cultural and socio-psychological features of the "the educated unemployed" have been depicted by using related survey data.
