Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the grain yield, yield components, and quality characteristics of 24 bread wheat genotypes (19 candidate varieties and 5 registered varieties) with different agronomic characteristics under the ecological conditions of Konya, and to identify the most suitable wheat variety candidates for our region. The study was conducted in a Randomized Block Design with 4 replications during the 2024-2025 growing season in the ecological conditions of Karatay district of Konya. In addition to grain yield, numerous yield components and quality characteristics were examined in the research. Within the scope of the study, the difference between varieties was found to be statistically significant for all traits examined except plant height. Among the characteristics examined in the research, plant height is between 74.7-83.5cm, spike length is between 7.6-9.6 cm, number of grains per spike is between 23-37 pieces, number of spikelets per spike is between 15-22 pieces, grain weight per spike is between 0.65-1.3 g, thousand grain weight is between 23.4-32.8 g, weight per hectoliter is between 64.3-72.4. In the kg/hl range, the protein rate varied between 13.6% and 15.5%, the wet extract ratio varied between 24.4% and 28.7%, the grain sedimentation rate varied between 42-53 ml and the grain yield varied between 561 and 827 kg/da. As a result of the research, the candidate varieties 1, 2 and 3 and the Halis bread wheat variety came to the fore in terms of grain yield. In terms of quality characteristics (protein ratio, hectoliter weight, sedimentation value), Halis and candidate number 5 came to the fore. It was observed that most of the varieties and variety candidates examined in the research were suitable for our region. However, considering that climatic conditions vary every year, it is thought that it would be appropriate to repeat such studies in different locations for another 2-3 years in order to make accurate recommendations about wheat variety candidates suitable for our region.
