Investigation of user characteristics of urban forests and recreation areas in elazig province

The traffic, environment and air pollution caused by the increasing population have required the natural environment of the people. Due to their social functions, urban forests and recreation areas are gaining more and more importance day by day. In this thesis, examining the phenomenon of urban forest and recreation area in Elazig; It is aimed to reveal the importance of the characteristics and criteria of urban forest and recreation areas for the city and urban people. For this purpose, a literature review was made and survey and observation techniques were used as methods. The survey was applied to 379 volunteers whose sample size was determined by simple random sampling method by visiting an urban forest and three recreation areas in the province of Elazig. In particular, the urban forest samples in our country were examined and it was aimed to determine the characteristics and user characteristics of the urban forest and recreation areas determined for the Province of Elazig, and to contribute to the revision of the Elazig urban forest and recreation areas. According to this; As a result of the results obtained, almost all of the 354 people who participated in the survey in the urban forest and recreation areas examined use the urban forest and recreation areas for their leisure time; the proximity of the area to the center is the primary reason for preference; especially in the summer period, it is preferred on weekdays and weekends; the area is mainly used for resting and picnic purposes; It has been concluded that they spend an average of 3 hours and the Elazig urban forest does not have the necessary features. As a result, urban forest and recreation areas should be revised according to user requests. An urban forest that meets the demands of the users should be built in the province of Elazig and it should be put into the service of the public.
