The moss inventory of north slope of Eldivan mountain

The term bryophyte is used for a wide range of plants including liverworts, hornworts and mosses. Bryophytes, neglected by most botanists because of its small size that is sometimes unnoticeable, constitute a special group of plant kingdom member consisting of 15.000– 25.000. Çankırı Eldivan Mountain is a field of 4,500 hectares, which is graded gradually after a flood disaster in 1952. A small part of the area is forested with Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), and at the same time it is possible to find elderly Anatolian black pine (Pinus nigra subsp. pallasiana (Lamb Holmboe)) and Oak (Quercus sp.) communities in small groups in the field. Our aim is: to find out which bryophyte species came to the area after 60-70 years from the time a tree was planted, to try to calculate the spreading areas of these species and to try a method that has never been tested in bryophyte inventory studies. In the study, 53 species were identified and their areas and weights were calculated on a hectare basis. It was determined that the species occupied approximately 9.6 hectares in the study area and their total weight was 88.11 tons
