Abstract (EN)

As in all countries of the world, many plant species have been widely used among the public for therapeutic purposes in Turkey for centuries. Our country is rich in plant diversity. The largest genus of the Compositae family in Turkey is Centaurea L.. While many studies have been conducted on the roots, leaves and other parts of the Centaurea fenzlii Reicgardt plant, no studies have been found on the determination of antioxidant capacities and biochemical contents of its achenes. In the study, it was observed that the contents of β-sitosterol, rosmarinic acid and linoleic acid were analyzed in very high amounts in the achenes of the plant species, while cinnamic acid was analyzed in very low amounts. It is also seen that this species has gallic acid, vanillic acid and caffeic acid contents. The amount of oleic acid among fatty acids was found to be 26.37%. It also contains palmitic acid, stearic acid, stigmasterol. It has been found to have α-tocopherol and K1 contents. Thanks to the phenolic compounds, flavonoids, fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidant substances contained in the plant, it has been determined in recent years that it can be used in certain amounts in phytotherapy, pharmacology, food and cosmetic products, and will direct the scientific studies on this subject.
