Energy efficiency in marine tourism industry: A case study of IC Cesme Marina

Abstract (EN)

Energy efficiency term constantly has been gaining importance each year after several incidents of oil crisis happen around 70's. Thinking about energy dependence of energy in developing and at the same time energy importing countries such as Turkey, using energy efficiently would be the most coherent and appropriate execution. As a contributor to economy marine tourism could be high yielding and sustainable if it is designed to be. Marine tourism is a wide cluster of industries which include yachting market, water sports market and cruise market. However energy efficiency phenomena did not comprehensively mentioned with marine tourism applications in literature therefore author thought that there is a gap in the literature. The main purposes of these papers are to obtain information on energy efficiency variables in marine tourism and conducting a comparison in between conventional applications and a marine tourism actor which in this case a marina. In accordance with this objective, first literature on energy efficiency applications in marine tourism are discussed latter semi structured interview used to get information on energy efficiency variables from marine tourism experts. Upon acquiring variables and determining typical consumptions of these applications IC Çeşme Marina's applications evaluated on that ground.
