Abstract (EN)

Inflation targeting policy has been implemented in Turkey since 2002. During the classical inflation targeting period implemented until the 2008 global crisis, the CBRT aimed at achieving price stability by using short-term interest rates as a monetary policy instrument. Following the global crisis, the CBRT also undertook the task of ensuring financial stability and made various policy changes in this direction. Then, new policy instruments such as reserve requirement ratios, reserve option mechanism and interest rate corridor were introduced. In this context, the aim of this thesis was to investigate the efficacy of flexible inflation targeting policy implemented since 2010 in Turkey. Furthermore, in the empirical part of the thesis, the relationship between inflation and the variables that are thought to be related to inflation has been examined by using VAR model for 2002:1-2019:3 date range. Results of the analysis show that it is a correct policy implementation for Turkey of flexible inflation targeting.
