Abstract (EN)

In this rapidly emerging development of education, feedback has gained more importance due to the lack of face-to-face interaction. Learners have started to depend their learning on feedback more. Although feedback is considered to have one of the most powerful influence on learning, there is still relatively limited research on feedback in online teaching. This study aims at scrutinizing teachers' perspectives on giving feedback to assignments in online education. In this framework, perspectives of teachers giving feedback on assignments in online education and use of teachers' feedback on assignments in online teaching were examined. The participants of the study were EFL instructors who were teaching at the Undergraduate and Preparatory Levels in a Foundation University in Izmir. Purposeful sampling was used to develop detailed understanding. To collect data, in depth interviews were conducted, field-notes were taken and observations were done. The findings of this study revealed the significance of providing feedback and its contributions to development and improvement in learning by examining the teachers' perspectives and use of feedback in online education.
