Abstract (EN)

Purpose: The main purpose of the research; is to study the relationship be-tween smartphone addiction and anger expression styles and trait anger in adolescents. Additionally, the significant difference between adolescents' smartphone addiction levels, anger expression styles, trait anger level and gender, high school type and grade level were examined. Method: The research is quantitative research designed according to the rela-tional screening method. The sample of the research consists of a total of 713 students studying in four different types of high schools in Mersin province in the 2023-2024 academic year. The Short Version of the Smartphone Addiction Scale, Trait Anger and Anger Expression Style Scale and Personal Information Form were used in the re-search. Results: It was found that smartphone addiction, anger expression styles and trait anger differ significantly according to grade level, gender and high school type. Additionally, a positive significant relationship was found between smartphone addic-tion and trait anger, anger in and anger out, and a negative significant relationship was found between smartphone addiction and anger control. Conclusion and Suggestions: It was concluded that smartphone addiction pre-dicts anger in, anger out and trait anger positively and significantly, and anger control negatively and significantly. In other words, it was concluded that as the level of smartphone addiction increases, trait anger, anger expression and anger expression increase, while anger control decreases. Guidance and psychological counseling stud-ies on ways to cope with smartphone addiction and anger can be increased at the high school level.
