Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to investigate heterosexual, middle and upper-middle class and married men's masculinity constructions in the home. In this research, how men defined themselves in the "feminine" home space and how they negotiated their masculine identities through the practices in the home were analyzed. Thereby, men's meaning constructions about being a man in the home analyzed in the frame of interpretative repertoires, subject positions and ideological dilemmas. It is seen that masculinities in the home were constructed in a way that prioritized the traditional masculinity and reaffirmed the normative masculinity ideology produced by the society. The repertoire of "providing emotional support" which is associated with the new masculinities also draws attention. The research contributes to the studies of masculinity and home space, which is reported to be lacking in the literature.
