Early republican period station buildings: Yozgat sample

This thesis is about the Early Republican Period railway station buildings located on the borders of modern-day Yozgat province. The importance given to railway transportation began to increase worldwide since the 19th century. In this century, the railway construction, which was intended to be built for military, political and economic purposes in the Ottoman lands, was carried out with some privileges given to foreign companies. In the new Republic of Turkey established under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, within the scope of the national railway policy; The railways managed by foreign companies were nationalized and the country was equipped with railways as a target of this policy. Although Yozgat station buildings, which are the subject of this study, are among the first applications within the national policy framework of the Republic of Turkey, scientific studies have generally focused on large city centers such as Kayseri, Sivas and Erzurum. Since 1925, buildings with different functions and architectural features have been constructed within the Yozgat train stations. Within the scope of the study, the buildings in the Yozgat station facilitys, some of which have not survived to the present day, were introduced architecturally and evaluated as a background study as a social-economic tool of the period. It is thought that it will be a source for future studies on the region and station buildings.
