Abstract (EN)

Domestic violence, which affects physical, mental and social well-being of at least 1 in 3 women worldwide, is a significant public health issue. Although the number of studies on violence against women is high, they are generally focus on perpetrators or victims. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Partner Violence Danger Assessment Psychoeducational Program on the knowledge and skill levels of the participants related to violence risk assessment, interventions for partner violence, and partner violence classification according to its causes. This is a mixed-design study with pre-test-post-test analyses for both an intervention and a control group. The sample consists of 49 literate women over the age of 18 and married for at least 1 year (21 in the intervention and 28 in the control groups). The knowledge and skill levels of the participants were measured by using a survey consisting of 42 questions created by the researcher. While the intervention group was provided 4 hours of online psychoeducation, the control group did not receive any psychoeducation in the process. For the data analysis, 2x2 Repeated Measures Mixed ANOVA, Independent and Dependent Sample T Tests were conducted. Independent Sample T Test analyses revealed that although there was no significant difference between the pre-test scores of the participants in the psychoeducational and control groups, there was a significant difference between their post-test scores, and Repeated Measures Mixed ANOVA revealed that the change was based on the time. The Dependent Sample T Test analyses revealed that there was a significant increase in the posttest scores of psychoeducational group compared with the pretest scores. Research findings indicate that the Psychoeducational Program can be effective for increasing the knowledge and skill levels of the participants related to violence risk assessment, interventions for partner violence, and partner violence classification according to its causes.
