Esad Efendi's interpretation of Sûra Yasin (Hasanpaşa written works library copy)

The Qur'an, which is the guidance guide of humanity, advises its interlocutors to search and contemplate frequently. The believers who did not remain indifferent to this, have always tried to think, research, understand and apply both the verses of the Divine book and the aspects it tries to draw attention to. This trend, which was started by the Companions by asking the Prophet, was updated according to periods and transferred to future generations as a legacy of tafsir. The Ottoman state, which had held the banner of Islam in the best way for centuries, was also a pioneer in scientific studies, and courses such as tafsir, hadith, akaid and fiqh were read and taught in madrasahs, mosques and palaces. It became a tradition in the Ottoman Empire, and verse and surah commentaries were highly sought after and had a considerable place in this heritage. We intend to read and analyze the Surah Yasin commentary written by the author Mehmed Esat Efendi, which we came across in the Çorum Hasanpaşa Manuscript Library, by means of this study. Although the work is in Turkish, we had a hard time reading and understanding the work due to the deformation in our language. Our diligent work consists of two parts. First of all, we gave brief information about verse and surah interpretation. In the first part of the study, we introduced the work and its author as much as we could from the sources. In the second part, we have classified the work in terms of Qur'anic sciences and we have tried to give brief information about ulûmu'l-Qur'an in each subject heading. We tried to analyze the verses under the relevant headings and to gather the verses that fall under the same classification under one heading. In the conclusion part, we briefly explained the knowledge we gained through this study and completed the study with the references part.
