Abstract (EN)

This thesis examines a software-based analysis and decision-making process for the adaptive reuse of buildings within the Nazilli Sümerbank Textile Factory campus as part of a higher education institution. As part of the study, as-built surveys of the existing structures on the campus were conducted and transferred to a digital format. The developed software program assessed the spatial and functional characteristics of the buildings, identifying eight structures as suitable candidates for adaptive reuse. Among these, the program further selected the two most appropriate structures for each proposed function, considering criteria such as spatial organization, volumetric suitability, façade configuration, and structural intervention requirements. Proposal projects were developed for the selected buildings and subjected to spatial performance analysis using the depthmapX software. The analysis employed the metrics of connectivity, integration, and step depth. Connectivity analysis evaluated the direct access relationships between the interior spaces of the buildings, while integration analysis measured the level of spatial cohesion among spaces. Step depth analysis calculated the average number of steps required for users to navigate between spaces, revealing the efficiency of circulation. These analyses provided critical data for assessing the spatial compatibility of the proposed functions with the selected structures. This study offers a software-based decision-making process and a spatial analysis-driven approach, contributing to the field of industrial heritage adaptive reuse. It demonstrates how digital tools and spatial evaluations can support the transformation of historic structures into functional spaces that meet contemporary needs.
